In the 1960s there were more than hundred well-qualified Dutch furniture-makers who worked in the midcentury modernist style. The most important factories are Pastoe, Fristho, Spectrum, Artifort and Gispen. But the top-10 is surely also completed with Ahrend, Hulmefa, Rohé, Jonkers and … Topform! This factory was founded in 1960 and was a bit more frivolous than the austere designers like Spectrum and Pastoe. Topform combined different materials and is less minimalistic than was usual in the Dutch tradition of De Stijl. These dining chairs mark the transition from the sixties to the seventies.
