Description

Set of 2 characteristic and very decorative bobbin chairs in wood and rush from the 1920s. In the early 20th century this kind of artisan, rustic chairs became popular as a result of a renewed interst in Dutch history of the 17th century, when this bobbin design came over from England. There was also a strong tendency to promote furniture, based in the arts and crafts-tradition, as a reaction to the mechanisation and industrialisation of society. In good condition, the chairs are a set, but there is a nice difference in detail in the bobbins in the back, h. 89, w. 56, d. 51, seat h. 50.
