Description

In the 1950s, the rattan chair with a steel base was introduced to make the chair lighter and more transparent. In the rattan village of Noordwolde, designers such as Dirk van Sliedregt were at the forefront of this innovation in design. However, this chair shows that in the early 1950s chairs made entirely of rattan were very elegant and actually had an even more beautiful interplay of shapes than the steel/rattan chairs. This chair is from the third important factory after the well-known factories of Jonkers and Rohé: Trio Rotanmeubelen Noordwolde. In very good condition and high quality as shown by the number of 20 rattanbars, h. 71, w. 61, d. 65, seating h. 35.
