Description
Rare solid steel bureau from the 1950s. Although the design and the colours are exceptionel, there is not much information about producer and designer. In the important publication Holland in Vorm. Dutch design 1945-1987, there is a picture of a similar bureau in combination with a copying machine by Océ van der Grinten (s. 97). It is possible that this bureau was specially made for the copying machine, with drawers made to store paper. One of the advisors of Océ was designer Wim Gilles, well-known for his products for the DRU Confetti-series of kitchenalia in exactly the same colours red and yellow as this bureau. So there is a pssoibility that Wim Gilles, one of the first Dutch industrial designers, was also the designer of the bureau. And ofcourse DRU was specialized in steel products. In good condition, with some marks of use and age, h. 80, d. 48, w. 96,5. The heigth of the top is 77,5 and knee heigth is 64, so it is possible to combine bureau and chair.
