Description
Around 1970 the taste in furniture changed from minimalist and purely functional to more outspoken and colourful objects. Rattan, the material of the 1960s, could not be painted, unless the bark was peeled. This peeled rattan was called manou and could be painted in different colours to adjust to a more romantic style of interior design. The famous Dutch factory of Rohé was very early in introducing this new material. This director’s chair, model ‘Viviana’ is a very beautiful and rare exemple of this development in Dutch and international furniture design.
