Kho Liang Ie (1927-1975) was born in Indonesia in 1927 to Chinese parents. In 1949, he went to the Netherlands to study interior design at the Rietveld Academy. In 1958, he joined the prestigious publisher Artifort as a designer and aesthetic consultant. It was he himself who suggested to Pierre Paulin and Geoffroy Harcourt – two great designers – that they join Artifort. His incredible work reflects his taste for purity and lightness. In the 1960s, the designer designed furniture for Schiphol airport, a true success story acclaimed by design enthusiasts and professionals alike. Kho Liang Ie designed some models for the Stabin factory in Woerden in the late 1960s. This model 703 dates from 1968.
