Description

Vannes Le Chatel was founded in 1765 and was one of the most important glass manufacturers in France from 1900 to 1950. In 1963, they began producing decorative lead crystal glass, with the peak of their production during the 1960s and 1970s. Around 1970, ART Vannes ceased production and Cristal de Sevres was born. Later, they produced under the Daum brand. Because the ART Vannes FRANCE furnaces were only in operation from 1950 to 1970, these beautiful pieces are considered a special find.

This lamp is from that important period of the 1960s and has several characteristics typical of Art Vannes:

  • Heavy, clear lead crystal.
  • Organic, free-form sculptural design.
  • Deep vertical indentations that create dramatic light refraction.
  • A thick, polished crystal base.
  • Mid-century French modern styling.

This rare lamp has a very sculptural model and is in very good condition, engraved marking underneath and the original sticker still present, 22x12x8; without shade but with the original shadeframe
