Description

Around 1960, Jan Stroosma (1928-1983) became one of the leading artists in the artistic and cultural development of Friesland. He experimented with different techniques, but was in the first place innovative in the art of etching. He was one of the first artists in the Northern parts of the Netherlands to work in an abstract style, influenced by the German-French artist Hans Hartung and by the French artist Pierre Soulages. This etching is one of his unica studio-experiments and, after his death, stamped ‘atelier jan stroosma’, c. 1960. In very good condition, framed 58×48.
